CCPA

Introduction

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which came into effect in January 2020, is a framework that lays down how organizations doing business in California need to capture, store and distribute the personal information of California residents. Similar to the GDPR in Europe, CCPA protects the data privacy rights of California residents and puts them in control of their data. They now have a Right to Know what's being collected and whether it's being sold, the Right to Opt-Out from the sale of information, and a Right to Delete it.

CCPA settings under the “Compliance” Tab

  1. Log in to the InMobi Publisher Dashboard and accept InMobi’s latest Terms of Service (TOS). The new InMobi TOS has CCPA-related clauses.
  2. If you have traffic from California, navigate to Compliance CCPA Settings within the Publisher Dashboard and click Allow Data Processing. If not applicable to your inventory, select Restrict Data Processing.
  3. If your app falls under the age-gating requirements in CCPA, i.e., your app is targeting children < 13 years of age, turn the Children Privacy Compliance flag on within your app settings. If the app was already marked compliant for Children Privacy, we would automatically flag the app as compliant - < 13 years for the US and < 16 years for the EU. This is valid:

    • for creating new apps
    • for updating existing apps.

Given the above, rely on a mechanism to scale and process opt-out requests. For more information, see Opt-Out Mechanism.
